This quote is saying you do not have be the strongest, most intellectual, or most knowledgable person to be successful. Although you can be, that is not what it really takes to succeed. Anyone with the greatest ambition and determination will be successful, everything else is just a bonus.
I agree you dont have to be the best. But as long as you know that youve given your all nothing else should matter.
